The district. The District is made up of one or more circuits. It exists primarily to advance the mission of the Church in a region by providing support for the circuits in line with the connexional priorities.

Each District is led by a District Chair. The North West and Mann Region Meet the Team. Alison Ransome is a part-time Learning & Development Coordinator for the North West & Mann region. She is an experienced enabler of change.

Alison oversees the Learning & Development Forum and supports the staff team. Governance of the Methodist Church of Great Britain is based on the principle of connexionalism—a highly centralised structure. From its inception under John Wesley, Methodism has always laid strong emphasis on the interdependence and mutual support, in terms of ministry, mission and finance, of one local congregation for another.

The Church community has never been seen in isolation either. In British Methodism (England, Wales and Scotland) there are 31 Districts with a total of approximately Circuits.
